In the world of design, where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, Livia Lauber stands as a beacon of innovation and sustainability. Since founding Studio Livia Lauber in 2017, Lauber has been on a quest to redefine everyday objects through progressive production techniques, emphasizing sustainable designs that not only look optimistic but also carry a deeper meaning.
Her work, known for its distinctive and functional appeal, blurs the lines between familiarity and unconventionality, inviting us to reconsider our interactions with the world. This design philosophy stems from her belief in the importance of human interaction and its role in shaping our understanding and engagement with our surroundings.
Beyond her studio, Lauber’s entrepreneurial spirit gave rise to E N S E M B L E, a design label based in London. This platform showcases the fusion of experimental design and skilled craftsmanship, resulting in objects that boast an unmistakable character and charm.
Lauber’s educational background in product and industrial design, acquired at ECAL in Lausanne, equipped her with the foundation to challenge and transform the design landscape. Her early career saw the successful partnership with designer Loris Jaccard in the establishment of the multidisciplinary design studio, Loris & Livia, in 2011.
Her collaborations extend to working with respected designers like Martino Gamper and Tom Dixon, indicating her influential presence in the design community. Lauber’s creativity and vision have also been showcased through her roles in curating and designing exhibitions for prestigious events such as the London Design Festival and ICFF New York. Additionally, her dedication to nurturing the next generation of designers is evident in her engagement with students from the Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and Geneva School of Art and Design (HEAD – Genève).
