Commissioned by the Swiss Embassy in the UK, 2014
We were approached by David Kilian Beck, cultural project manager at the Swiss Embassy, to design an eye-catching yet functional exhibition space for Swiss fashion platform MODE SUISSE, during the London Fashion Week 2014.
The exhibition consisted in display units and a lighting installation to showcase the work of twelve up-and-coming swiss fashion designer. Taking place in an ex-office environment, the central London building had been emptied and stripped from carpet and furnishing. It felt very sterile and echoey. We decided to keep the industrial look of the space, but wallpapered the walls with three dimensional acoustic foam. We suspended a grit of lights and garments, alterning pink or white lights with the designers’ showpieces. The rest of the collections were displayed on individual clothes rails, zig-zagging along the wall, creating individual zones for each exhibitor. A challenging project as we did not see the showpieces before the installation!
